और्ध्वदैहिकक्रिया-शोकविलापः (Obsequies for Daśaratha and the Brothers’ Lament)
ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददौ रत्नं धनमन्नं च पुष्कलम्।वासांसि च महार्हाणि रत्नानि विविधानि च।।।।
tayor vilapitaṃ śrutvā vyasanaṃ cānvavekṣya tat | bhṛśam ārtatarā bhūyaḥ sarva evānugāminaḥ ||
Hearing the lament of the two brothers and beholding that calamity, all the attendants became once again even more intensely distressed.
During the shraddha ceremony (obsequies) Bharata bestowed on brahmins precious stones, wealth, large quantities of rice, highly valuable garments and various gems.
Dharma is reflected as compassion and shared responsibility—those who serve righteous leaders also share in their suffering and support.
After Bharata and Śatrughna lament, the surrounding retinue is moved to renewed anguish.
The attendants’ empathy and loyalty, mirroring the household’s collective mourning.
