दशरथस्य शोकानुचिन्तनं शब्धवेधि-दोषस्मरणं च (Daśaratha’s grief, karmic reflection, and the remembered ‘śabdavedhī’ misdeed)

न द्विजातिरहं राजन्मा भूत्ते मनसो व्यथा।शूद्रायामस्मि वैश्येन जातो जनपदाधिप।।2.63.53।।

na dvijātir ahaṃ rājan mā bhūt te manaso vyathā | śūdrāyām asmi vaiśyena jāto janapadādhipa || 2.63.53 ||

O king—lord of the realm—I am not of the twice-born. Let no anxiety trouble your mind. I was born to a Śūdra mother by a Vaiśya father.

'O king Dasaratha, lord of the land, I am not a brahmin. Feel no sense of guilt in your mind. I was born of a sudra mother and a vaisya father.

Satya (truthful disclosure) is used to guide ethical judgment: Śravaṇa clarifies his status so Daśaratha does not carry a specific, feared transgression.

Śravaṇa identifies his parentage and varna to Daśaratha, directly addressing the king’s fear of brahmin-slaying.

Truthfulness and clarity under suffering: he speaks plainly even while dying.
