चित्रकूटगमनम् तथा पर्णशालाप्रवेशः (Arrival at Chitrakuta and Establishing the Leaf-Hut)

तां वृक्षपर्णच्छदनां मनोज्ञां यथाप्रदेशं सुकृतां निवाताम्।वासाय सर्वे विविशुस्समेतास्सभां यथा देवगणास्सुधर्माम्।।।।

tāṃ vṛkṣa-parṇa-chadanāṃ manojñāṃ yathā-pradeśaṃ sukṛtāṃ nivātām |

vāsāya sarve viviśuḥ sametāḥ sabhāṃ yathā deva-gaṇāḥ sudharmām ||

All of them, gathered together, entered that leaf-thatched hut to dwell there—charming, well made, set in a fitting place, and sheltered from the wind—just as the hosts of gods enter the assembly-hall Sudharmā.

Just like the gods enter the court of Sudharma, they all stepped into the hut to dwell there. The hut was charming well-built on a suitable site and protected against storm.

H
Hut (leaf-thatched)
S
Sudharmā (divine assembly hall)
D
Deva-gaṇas (hosts of gods)

Dharma dignifies simplicity: a humble leaf-hut becomes ‘divine’ through righteous living and harmony, teaching that sacredness arises from conduct (ācāra), not opulence.

The group settles into their forest residence; the poet describes the hut and compares their entering it to gods entering Sudharmā.

Contentment and harmony in community—dwelling together in a modest space without loss of dignity.
