चित्रकूटमार्गोपदेशः — Instructions for the Chitrakuta Route and the Yamuna Crossing
कालिन्दी मथ सीता तु याचमाना कृताञ्जलिः।तीरमेवाभिसम्प्राप्ता दक्षिणं वरवर्णिनी।।।।
tataḥ plavena aṃśumatīṃ śīghragām ūrmimālinīm | tīrajair bahubhir vṛkṣaiḥ santēruḥ yamunāṃ nadīm ||
Then, by the raft, they crossed the river Yamunā—daughter of the Sun—swift-flowing, garlanded with waves, with many trees rising along her banks.
While Sita with her fair complexion was thus invoking river Yamuna with folded hands they reached the southern bank.
Dharma here is travel undertaken with restraint and respect for sacred landscapes—crossing a revered river carefully, not violently or arrogantly.
Rāma’s group completes the Yamunā crossing using a raft.
