Shloka 2.52.82

गङ्गातरणम्, सुमन्त्र-प्रतिनिवर्तनम्, जटाधारणम् (Crossing the Gaṅgā; Sumantra’s Return; Adoption of Ascetic Signs)

मध्यं तु समनुप्राप्य भागीरथ्यास्त्वनिन्दिता।वैदेही प्राञ्जलिर्भूत्वा तां नदीमिदमब्रवीत्।।2.52.82।।

madhyaṃ tu samanuprāpya bhāgīrathyās tv aninditā | vaidehī prāñjalir bhūtvā tāṃ nadīm idam abravīt || 2.52.82 ||

When they reached the midstream of the Bhāgīrathī, Vaidehī—blameless Sītā—joined her palms and addressed the river in these words.

When the boat reached the mid-stream that unblemished Sita with palms folded invoked the river thus:

S
Sītā (Vaidehī)
B
Bhāgīrathī (Gaṅgā)

Reverence and humility: Sītā approaches the sacred river with folded hands, modeling devotional respect aligned with dharma.

Midway across the Gaṅgā, Sītā begins a formal prayer/vow addressed to the river.

Sītā’s śraddhā (faith) and purity of conduct, indicated by ‘aninditā’ and her reverent posture.
