Shloka 2.50.46

गङ्गादर्शनम् तथा गुहसमागमः (Vision of the Gaṅgā and Meeting with Guha)

एते हि दयिता राज्ञः पितुर्दशरथस्य मे।एतैस्सुविहितैरश्वै भविष्याम्यहमर्चितः।।2.50.46।।

ēte hi dayitā rājñaḥ pitur daśarathasya me |

ētaiḥ suvihitair aśvaiḥ bhaviṣyāmy aham arcitaḥ || 2.50.46 ||

These horses are dear to my father, King Daśaratha. If these horses are well cared for, I shall feel duly honored.

If these horses which are the favourites of my father, king Dasaratha are well-fed, I shall consider myself honoured.

Dharma is expressed as conscientious care for dependents: honoring the king is also honoring what is entrusted to him—here, the horses.

Rama explains why feeding the horses matters: they are cherished by Daśaratha and should be properly tended.
