nivṛtta-vanavāsaṃ taṃ draṣṭāsi punarāgatam | jahi śokaṃ ca mohaṃ ca devi satyaṃ bravīmi te ||
O Devī, you will see him returned when his forest-dwelling is complete. Abandon grief and delusion—I speak the truth to you.
I tell you the truth, Kausalya, that you will see Rama's return when the period of exile is complete. Hence give up your sorrow and delusion.
Satya (truth) as moral support: truthful reassurance and clarity are presented as remedies for grief and भ्रम (delusion).
An elder assures Kausalya that exile has an end and that Rama will return, urging her to relinquish despair.
Satya-vākya (truth-speaking) and compassionate counsel—comfort grounded in truth rather than mere sentiment.
