Shloka 2.32.31

द्वात्रिंशस्सर्गः — Gifts to Suyajna and the Brahmins; Trijata’s Petition and Rama’s Charity

अपास्य फालं कुद्दालं कुरुष्व वचनं मम।।।।रामं दर्शय धर्मज्ञं यदि किञ्चिदवाप्स्यसि।

apāsya phālaṁ kuddālaṁ kuruṣva vacanaṁ mama || rāmaṁ darśaya dharmajñaṁ yadi kiñcid avāpsyasi |

“Do as I say—cast away this iron and spade. Go and present yourself to Rāma, the knower of dharma; if anything can be gained, you will gain it from him.”

Listen to me! throw away this iron-spade. Go and see the righteous Rama.You may obtain something.

It teaches turning toward a dharma-knowing protector rather than persisting in hardship with ineffective means; righteous authority is portrayed as a legitimate refuge for relief.

Trijaṭa’s wife urges him to stop his labor with tools and instead approach Rama, confident that Rama’s righteousness can bring assistance.

Rama’s reputation as dharmajña—one who understands and upholds righteousness—making him worthy to approach.
