द्वात्रिंशस्सर्गः — Gifts to Suyajna and the Brahmins; Trijata’s Petition and Rama’s Charity

तं वृद्धं तरुणी भार्या बालानादाय दारकान्।।।।अब्रवीद्बाह्मणं वाक्यं दारिद्र्येणाभिपीडिता।

tataḥ sandhyām upāsya āśu gatvā saumitriṇā saha | juṣṭaṃ tat prāviśal lakṣmyā ramyaṃ rāma-niveśanam ||

Thereafter, having swiftly performed the twilight worship (sandhyā), he went with Saumitri (Lakṣmaṇa) and entered Rāma’s lovely residence, graced with prosperity.

His young wife, highly distressed due to poverty, keeping her young sons before her said to the aged brahmin:

L
Lakṣmaṇa (Saumitri)
R
Rāma
R
Rāma-niveśana (Rāma’s residence)
S
sandhyā (twilight worship)

Dharma includes nitya-karma (daily obligatory rites): even amid upheaval, one maintains disciplined worship and proper conduct.

After performing sandhyā worship, the character proceeds with Lakṣmaṇa into Rāma’s residence, marking a transition into the next household scene.

Religious discipline and steadiness—ritual duty is not abandoned even when life is unsettled.
