यौवराज्याभिषेक-उपकल्पनम् (Preparations for Rama’s Installation as Yuvaraja)
यच्चान्यत्किञ्चिदेष्टव्यं तत्सर्वमुपकल्प्यताम्।।2.3.12।।अन्तःपुरस्य द्वाराणि सर्वस्य नगरस्य च।चन्दनस्रग्भिरर्च्यन्तां धूपैश्च घ्राणहारिभिः।।2.3.13।।
iti pratyarcya tān rājā brāhmaṇān idam abravīt |
vasiṣṭhaṃ vāmad evaṃ ca teṣām evopaśṛṇvatām ||2.3.3||
Thus, having duly honored those brāhmaṇas, the king spoke these words as they listened, addressing Vasiṣṭha and Vāmadeva as well.
Even the smallest items required be arranged. Let the gates of the inner apartment and of the entire city be decorated with sandalpaste and garlands. Let fragrant incense be burnt for worship.
Dharma is shown as honoring spiritual authority and following proper protocol: a king begins major actions by respectfully engaging qualified sages and brāhmaṇas.
After receiving and honoring the brāhmaṇas, Daśaratha proceeds to address Vasiṣṭha, Vāmadeva, and the assembly.
