Receiving their lotus-like folded palms raised in reverence, the king accepted their homage and spoke to them words both pleasing and beneficial.

The citizens held out their palms folded like lotuses in reverence and urged king Dasaratha in all possible ways (to coronate Rama). He reciprocated their respect with words preasing and beneficial to them:

Daśaratha

Rājadharma: a king should respond to his people with speech that is both agreeable and truly beneficial—pleasantness must be joined to welfare.

The people approach Daśaratha with reverence and urgency regarding royal decisions (connected to Rāma’s coronation), and the king responds formally.

Statesmanship and courtesy—Daśaratha honors public reverence and answers with measured, welfare-oriented speech.
