Shloka 2.22.11

अभिषेक-निवृत्ति-उपदेशः (Withdrawal of the Coronation: Rama’s Counsel to Lakshmana)

अभिषेकविधानं तु तस्मात्संहृत्य लक्ष्मण।अन्वगेवाहमिच्छामि वनं गन्तुमितःपुनः।।।।

abhiṣeka-vidhānaṃ tu tasmāt saṃhṛtya lakṣmaṇa | anvag evāham icchāmi vanaṃ gantum itaḥ punaḥ ||

Therefore, O Lakṣmaṇa, have the arrangements for the consecration withdrawn; only after that do I wish to depart from here to the forest.

Therefore, O Lakshmana! I want the arrangement for coronation withdrawn before I proceed to the forest from here itself.

Dharma is orderly righteousness: Rāma insists the public rite be properly withdrawn before he leaves, preventing chaos and preserving the moral legitimacy of the kingdom.

Rāma instructs Lakṣmaṇa to stop the coronation proceedings and prepares to go to the forest in compliance with the new command.

Rāma’s discipline and respect for social-ritual order (maryādā), even amid personal loss.
