Shloka 2.2.6

यौवराज्य-प्रस्तावः (Proposal for Rāma’s Installation as Heir-Apparent)

मयाप्याचरितं पूर्वैः पन्थानमनुगच्छता।

प्रजा नित्यमनिद्रेण यथाशक्त्यभिरक्षिताः।।2.2.6।।

taṃ deva devopamam ātmajaṃ te sarvasya lokasya hite niviṣṭam | hitāya naḥ kṣipram udārajuṣṭaṃ mudā ’bhiṣektuṃ varada tvam arhasi || 2.2.54 ||

O boon-giver, you ought—joyfully and without delay—to consecrate your son as heir-apparent: godlike among men, devoted to the welfare of the whole world and inclined to noble virtues, for our good.

Following the path of my forefathers I protected the people to the best of my ability by being ever vigilant.
