Shloka 2.15.4
अभिषेकसज्जा तथा सुमन्त्रस्य प्रेषणम् (Coronation Preparations and Sumantra’s Commission)
काञ्चना जलकुम्भाश्च भद्रपीठं स्वलंकृतम्।।2.15,4।।रथः च सम्यगास्तीर्णो भास्वता व्याघ्रचर्मणा।
upādāya samākrāntais tathā jānapadair janaiḥ |
rāmābhiṣekasumukhair unmukhaiḥ samalaṅkṛtam || 2.15.39 ||
It was thronged by countryfolk who had come bearing gifts—faces bright and uplifted, eager for Rama’s consecration—so that the place itself seemed adorned by their presence.
Golden jars filled with water, the well-decorated throne and a chariot spread well with bright tiger-skin (were kept ready).
Dharma is shown as voluntary support of rightful rule: people participate with offerings and goodwill, indicating legitimacy grounded in virtue and trust rather than force.
Villagers and townspeople converge on Rama’s residence with gifts, eagerly awaiting the coronation rites.
Rama’s trustworthiness (satya and steadiness) as a leader, which naturally draws public affection and allegiance.
