Shloka 2.15.18
अभिषेकसज्जा तथा सुमन्त्रस्य प्रेषणम् (Coronation Preparations and Sumantra’s Commission)
अयं पृच्छामि वचनात्सुखमायुष्मतामहम्।।2.15.18।।राज्ञः संप्रति बुद्धस्य यच्चागमनकारणम्।
ayaṃ pṛcchāmi vacanātsukhamāyuṣmatāmaham | rājñaḥ saṃprati buddhasya yaccāgamanakāraṇam ||
At your word, O long-lived ones, I shall enquire about the welfare of the King, now awakened, and the reason for his summoning.
On your behalf I shall enquire from the king who is awake now about his welfare and the reason for calling me here.
The speaker is Sumantra, King Dasharatha's trusted minister and charioteer, who acts as the intermediary between the King and the outer court.
'Ayushmatam' translates to 'long-lived ones'. It is a polite and respectful address used by Sumantra toward the palace attendants or doorkeepers who urged him to check on the King.
