अनसूयाप्रीतिदानम् — Anasūyā’s Blessing and the Forest Path
रक्षांसि पुरुषादानि नानारूपाणि राघव।वसन्त्यस्मिन्महारण्ये व्यालाश्च रुधिराशनाः।।।।
vyaktākṣarapadaṃ citraṃ bhāṣitaṃ madhuraṃ tvayā |
yathā svayaṃvaraṃ vṛttaṃ tatsarvaṃ hi śrutaṃ mayā ||
rame 'haṃ kathayā te tu dṛḍhaṃ madhurabhāṣiṇi ||
You have spoken sweetly and wonderfully, with every syllable and word clearly expressed. I have heard your entire account of how the svayaṃvara took place. O sweet-speaking Sītā, I truly delight in your narration.
O Rama, this great forest is haunted by carnivorous demons who can assume anyform and by blood-drinking wild animals.
Dharma here is expressed as respectful listening and truthful appreciation within marriage—valuing a spouse’s words, clarity, and sincerity (satya) rather than dismissing them.
Rama responds after hearing Sita recount the events of her svayaṃvara, praising the clarity and sweetness of her narration.
Rama’s gentleness and attentiveness (saumya-bhāva), shown by patient listening and affirming speech toward Sita.
