अनसूयोपदेशः तथा सीताया स्वयंवरकथा (Anasuya’s Counsel and Sita’s Swayamvara Narrative)
मिथिलाधिपतिर्वीरो जनको नाम धर्मवित्।क्षत्रधर्मे ह्यभिरतो न्यायतश्शास्ति मेदिनीम्।।2.118.27।।
mithilādhipatir vīro janako nāma dharmavit | kṣatradharme hy abhirato nyāyataḥ śāsti medinīm ||2.118.27||
“In Mithilā there was a heroic king named Janaka, well-versed in dharma; devoted to the duties of a kṣatriya, he governed the earth in accordance with justice.”
There is a king in Mithila, Janaka by name. He is heroic and is conversant with righteousness. Engaged in the duties of a kshatriya, he is rules the earth with justice.
Rajadharma: a ruler’s dharma is governance rooted in justice and righteous conduct—Janaka exemplifies kṣatriya duty guided by dharma and nyāya.
Sītā begins her autobiographical account by introducing her father Janaka and his righteous rule in Mithilā.
Janaka’s dharma-jñāna (dharmavit) and just kingship (nyāyataḥ śāsana).
