“Protect your mother Kaikeyī; do not turn your anger toward her. You are bound by oath—by me and by Sītā as well, O foremost of the Raghus.” Having spoken thus, Rama—his eyes filled with tears—took leave of his brother.

'Be it so', assured Rama and then affectionately embracing both Bharata and Satrughna, said to Bharata:

R
Rama
B
Bharata
K
Kaikeyi
S
Sita
R
Raghu lineage (Raghu)

Dharma requires restraint and protection of even those who have caused harm: Rama instructs Bharata to guard Kaikeyī and renounce anger, preserving family order and moral discipline.

As the brothers part, Rama gives Bharata a final command regarding Kaikeyī and binds him by an oath invoked in the names of Rama and Sītā.

Rama’s forgiveness and moral clarity—he prioritizes duty and compassion over resentment, even amid personal loss.
