अयोध्याकाण्डे एकादशोत्तरशततमः सर्गः (Sarga 111: Counsel on Gurus, Parental Debt, and Bharata’s Protest)
स हि राजा जनयिता पिता दशरथो मम।आज्ञातं यन्मया तस्य न तन्मिथ्या भविष्यति।।।।
sa hi rājā janayitā pitā daśaratho mama | ājñātaṃ yan mayā tasya na tan mithyā bhaviṣyati ||
For King Daśaratha is my father who begot me; whatever I have pledged to him shall never become false.
King Dasaratha is my father who begot me. The promise I made him shall not prove false.
Satya as dharma: a promise made to one’s father (and king) must be upheld; truthfulness is treated as non-negotiable moral order.
Rāma affirms that he will not violate the commitment connected to Daśaratha, even amid emotional and political pressure.
Truth-steadfastness (satya-niṣṭhā) and filial loyalty—integrity that refuses convenient reversal.
