लोकसमुत्पत्ति-वर्णनम् तथा इक्ष्वाकुवंश-प्रशंसा (Cosmogony and Ikshvaku Genealogy as Counsel to Rama)
पुत्रस्ते भविता देवि महात्मा लोकविश्रुतः।।।।धार्मिकश्च सुशीलश्च वंशकर्ताऽरिसूदनः।
putras te bhavitā devi mahātmā loka-viśrutaḥ |
dhārmikaś ca suśīlaś ca vaṁśa-kartā ’ri-sūdanaḥ ||
“O queen, you shall have a son—great-souled and renowned in the world—virtuous and of noble conduct, a continuer of the lineage and a destroyer of enemies.”
O queen, you will beget a son who will be magnanimous, virtuous, renowned in the world. He will be the perpetuator of the race and destroyer of enemies.
The ideal of righteous progeny: the blessing is framed not as power alone, but as dharmic character—good conduct, protection of society, and continuity of a just lineage.
Cyavana responds to Kālindī’s request for a boon, promising the birth of an exemplary son defined by virtue and public renown.
Dhārmikatva (righteousness) and suśīlatā (good conduct) are presented as the primary virtues of an ideal ruler/hero.
