Shloka 3.9.20
सीताया धर्मोपदेशः—शस्त्रसंयोगदोषकथा (Sita’s Counsel on Dharma and the Peril of Weapon-Association)
स तच्छस्त्रमनुप्राप्य न्यासरक्षणतत्परः।।3.9.20।।वने तु विचरत्येव रक्षन्प्रत्ययमात्मनः।
sa tac chastram anuprāpya nyāsarakṣaṇatatparaḥ | vane tu vicaraty eva rakṣan pratyayam ātmanaḥ ||
Having received that weapon, he wandered through the forest, intent on guarding the deposit and preserving his own trustworthiness.
Having received the weapon as a trust, the sage went wandering in the forest, always attentive in safeguarding the weapon.
Nyāsa-rakṣaṇa (protecting what is entrusted) is treated as dharma; integrity is maintained by safeguarding both the object and one’s credibility.
The entrusted weapon has been received, and the custodian continues daily forest life while remaining vigilant about the deposit.
Reliability and conscientiousness—being careful with entrusted responsibilities.
