Then Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa both strapped on their auspicious quivers, took up their two resonant bows, and went forth from the hermitage to depart.
We wish to see the entire circle of hermitages of the sages, residing in Dandaka forest. So we are in a hurry.
Dharma here is protective responsibility: in a forest threatened by rākṣasas, the princes uphold kṣātra-dharma by remaining prepared to safeguard sages and the innocent.
After leave-taking and preparations, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa arm themselves and depart the hermitage to continue their journey.
Vigilance and duty: their readiness with bow and quiver signals steadfast commitment to protection.
