Shloka 3.8.10

सुतीक्ष्णाश्रमप्रस्थानम् (Departure from Sutikshna’s Hermitage)

तौ संस्पृशन्तौ चरणावुत्थाप्य मुनिपुङ्गवः।गाढमालिङ्ग्य सस्नेहमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्।।।।

tau saṃspṛśantau caraṇāv utthāpya muni-puṅgavaḥ |

gāḍham āliṅgya sa-sneham idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||

As the two touched his feet, the foremost of sages raised them up, embraced them firmly with affection, and spoke these words.

When both Rama and Lakshmana touched the feet of Sutikshna, the best of the sages, he lifted them up, hugged them tightly, and said affectionately:

Sūtīkṣṇa

It teaches reverence to elders and sages (guru-vandana) and the dharmic warmth with which spiritual elders bless and guide righteous travellers.

Rama and Lakshmana bow at Sūtīkṣṇa’s feet before departing; the sage responds with affectionate blessing and instruction.

Humility and respect (vinaya) in Rama and Lakshmana; compassionate guardianship in Sūtīkṣṇa.
