Go swiftly from here, O Rāma, to that mighty Sugrīva. Having gone quickly today, O Rāghava, make him your friend—forming the alliance without hostility, with the blazing fire as witness.
O Rama, immediately proceed today from here to mighty Sugriva. Having reached him, make him your friend without malice in the presence of burning fire.
Dharma here is alliance through honesty and non-malice: friendship should be formed openly (with Agni as witness) and without treachery (adroha).
Rāma is urged to immediately approach Sugrīva and formalize friendship to gain support in the search for Sītā.
Diplomatic righteousness: forming bonds through transparent vows, restraint, and good faith.
