दनु-शापकथा तथा सीताहरण-प्रश्नः (Danu’s Curse Narrative and Rama’s Inquiry about Sita)
दग्धस्त्वयाहमवटे न्यायेन रघुनन्धन।।3.71.31।।वक्ष्यामि तमहं वीर यस्तं ज्ञास्यति राक्षसम्।
dagdhas tvayāham avaṭe nyāyena raghunandana | vakṣyāmi tam ahaṃ vīra yas taṃ jñāsyati rākṣasam ||
When you have burned me in a pit according to due rule, O delight of the Raghus—O hero—I shall tell you of the one who knows that rākṣasa.
O heroic Rama, delight of the Raghus, if you drop me in a pit and cremate me as per custom, I will tell you about him who knows the demon.
Reciprocity grounded in dharma: Kabandha offers truthful guidance as a return for Rama’s righteous completion of the liberating rite.
Kabandha promises that after being cremated by Rama, he will direct Rama to a person capable of identifying the abductor.
Gratitude and reliability: keeping one’s word once the rightful act is done.
