“You are well in every way and ever devoted to the welfare of all beings—so I have been told by the great-souled Śarabhaṅga of Gautama’s lineage.”
You are ever engaged in the welfare of all beings. I have heard this from the great sage Sarabhanga of Gautama's clan.
Dharma is framed as sarva-bhūta-hita—active commitment to the good of all living beings—presented as the defining mark of a true sage.
Rāma respectfully acknowledges Sūtīkṣṇa’s reputation, citing testimony from another revered ascetic, thereby grounding praise in credible tradition.
Compassionate universality: the sage’s orientation toward the welfare of all beings.
