रामक्रोधवर्णनम् — Lakshmana’s Counsel to the Enraged Rama

सदा त्वं सर्वभूतानां शरण्यः परमा गतिः।।।।को नु दारप्रणाशं ते साधु मन्येत राघव।

sadā tvaṃ sarvabhūtānāṃ śaraṇyaḥ paramā gatiḥ |

ko nu dāra-praṇāśaṃ te sādhu manyeta rāghava ||

You are ever the refuge and highest resort of all beings. Who, O Rāghava, could deem it right that your wife should be lost from you?

You are the ultimate resort and refuge of all beings. Who would like that your wife should be abducted ?

L
Lakṣmaṇa
R
Rāma (Rāghava)
S
sarvabhūta (all beings)

Dharma recognizes the king/hero as a protector for all; Lakṣmaṇa frames Sītā’s abduction as fundamentally ‘not right,’ reaffirming that injustice against the righteous is contrary to moral order.

Lakṣmaṇa begins consoling and steadying Rāma, reminding him of his role as refuge to beings and expressing that Sītā’s loss is an intolerable wrong.

Lakṣmaṇa’s supportive loyalty and moral clarity—he strengthens Rāma’s resolve without inflaming reckless anger.
