गोदावरीतटे सीतान्वेषणम् — The Search for Sītā at the Godāvarī

sa samīkṣya parikrāntaṃ sītāyā rākṣasasya ca || 3.64.37 ||

Having examined the tracks and movements of Sītā and of the rākṣasa, Rāma observed the signs upon that spot.

Bewildered to see the broken bow and quiver and many splinters of the chariot scattered all over, Rama said to his loving brother Lakshmana:

R
Rama
S
Sita
R
Rakshasa

Dharma here is vigilant responsibility: Rāma carefully examines evidence rather than acting blindly, reflecting disciplined conduct in crisis.

After Sītā’s abduction, Rāma reaches the area and begins assessing the signs—tracks and disturbances—indicating Sītā and a rākṣasa were present.

Prudence and steadfastness: Rāma’s careful observation shows controlled judgment while pursuing a righteous objective.
