सीतावियोगे रामविलापः — Rama’s Lament in Separation from Sita
स लक्ष्मणं शोकवशाभिपन्नं शोके निमग्नो विपुले तु रामः।उवाच वाक्यं व्यसनानुरूपमुष्णं विनिश्श्वस्य रुदंत्सशोकम्।।।।
sa lakṣmaṇaṃ śokavaśābhipannaṃ śoke nimagno vipule tu rāmaḥ |
uvāca vākyaṃ vyasanānurūpam uṣṇaṃ viniśśvasya rudan saśokam ||
Plunged in overwhelming grief, Rama—sobbing and heaving burning sighs—spoke to Lakshmana, who too had been seized by sorrow, words befitting that calamity.
Plunged in deep grief, Rama heaved hot sighs and said these words to grief-stricken Lakshmana-weeping:
Even in extreme suffering, Rama does not abandon moral clarity; he speaks in a manner ‘befitting the calamity,’ showing disciplined truthfulness about his condition rather than denial. Dharma here is emotional honesty aligned with responsibility.
Immediately after Sita’s disappearance/abduction, Rama and Lakshmana are overwhelmed; Rama begins to speak through sobs and heavy sighs, initiating his lament and search-oriented reasoning.
Rama’s sincerity and transparency (satya in expression) and his reliance on Lakshmana in crisis, reflecting fraternal trust and shared duty.
