सीतान्वेषणारम्भः — The Search for Sita Begins

तं ततस्सान्त्वयामास लक्ष्मणः प्रियबान्धवः।बहुप्रकारं धर्मज्ञः प्रश्रितं प्रश्रिताञ्जलिः।।।।

taṃ tataḥ sāntvayāmāsa lakṣmaṇaḥ priyabāndhavaḥ | bahuprakāraṃ dharmajñaḥ praśritaṃ praśritāñjaliḥ ||

Then Lakṣmaṇa—Rāma’s dear companion and a knower of dharma—humbly, with folded palms, consoled him in many different ways.

Then Lakshmana, the knower of dharma and a dear friend offered obeisance most humbly with folded palms and consoled Rama in many ways.

L
Lakṣmaṇa
R
Rāma

Dharma here is expressed as compassionate duty: Lakṣmaṇa supports the afflicted Rāma with humility and respectful conduct, showing that right action includes consoling and steadying those overwhelmed by grief.

After Sītā’s disappearance/abduction, Rāma is distraught; Lakṣmaṇa attempts to calm and counsel him.

Lakṣmaṇa’s devotion and disciplined humility—he approaches with folded palms and offers guidance without arrogance.
