रावणस्यात्मप्रशंसा लङ्कावर्णनं च — Ravana’s Self-Praise and the Description of Lanka
तत्र त्वं वसती सीते राजपुत्रि मया सह।न स्मरिष्यसि नारीणां मानुषीणां मनस्विनि।।।।
tatra tvaṃ vasatī sīte rājaputri mayā saha | na smariṣyasi nārīṇāṃ mānuṣīṇāṃ manasvini ||
There, O Sītā—princess, high-minded lady—dwelling with me, you will not even think of human women and their lot.
O highminded princess, O Sita while living with me, you will not even think of other women.
Dharma warns against manipulation that isolates a person from their values and community; Rāvaṇa attempts to detach Sītā from her human ties and rightful identity.
Rāvaṇa proposes that Sītā live with him in Laṅkā, promising a life so elevated that she would forget ordinary human existence.
Sītā’s dignity (maryādā) and steadfast commitment to her rightful marital dharma are the virtues under pressure.
