सीतारावणसंवादः — Ravana Reveals Himself; Sita Affirms Rama’s Dharma

एवं बृवन्त्यां सीतायां रामपत्न्यां महाबलः।प्रत्युवाचोत्तरं तीव्रं रावणो राक्षसाधिपः।।3.47.25।।

evaṃ bruvantyāṃ sītāyāṃ rāmapatnyāṃ mahābalaḥ | pratyuvāca uttaraṃ tīvraṃ rāvaṇo rākṣasādhipaḥ ||

As Sītā, Rāma’s wife, spoke thus, Rāvaṇa—the mighty lord of the rākṣasas—answered her with a harsh reply.

To these words of Sita, Rama's wife, Ravana, the powerful king of demons, replied sharp:

S
Sītā
R
Rāma
R
Rāvaṇa
R
Rākṣasas

The verse contrasts dharmic speech with harmful speech: Rāvaṇa’s ‘sharp’ reply signals adharma—language used to intimidate rather than uphold truth and welfare.

After Sītā questions the disguised visitor, the narration marks the turn where Rāvaṇa begins responding aggressively.

By contrast, Sītā’s composed inquiry highlights restraint; Rāvaṇa’s harshness highlights lack of moral restraint.
