Shloka 3.45.39
सीतया लक्ष्मणप्रेषणम् — Sita urges Lakshmana to seek Rama (The crisis of the ‘distressed voice’)
इति लक्ष्मणमाक्रुश्य सीता दुःखसमन्विता।पाणिभ्यां रुदती दुःखादुदरं प्रजघान ह।।3.45.39।।
icchasi tvaṁ vinaśyantaṁ rāmaṁ lakṣmaṇa matkṛte | lobhāt tvaṁ matkṛte nūnaṁ nānugacchasi rāghavam || 3.45.6 ||
O Lakṣmaṇa, you wish Rāma to perish for my sake. Surely, out of desire for me, you do not go after Rāghava.
Thus Sita cried in distress, sadly hitting her belly with both the hands, blaming Lakshmana (all the time).
The verse warns how fear and grief can distort judgment and lead to adharma in speech—false accusation—while still reflecting the urgency to protect the righteous (Rāma).
Sītā, panicked by the perceived danger to Rāma, presses Lakṣmaṇa to leave immediately by alleging selfish motives.
Lakṣmaṇa’s steadfastness is tested; Sītā’s devotion to Rāma appears as intense but overwhelmed by anxiety.
