Shloka 3.44.11
मारीचवधः — The Slaying of Maricha (Golden Deer Deception)
गृहीतुकामं दृष्ट्वैवं पुनरेवाभ्यधावत।तत्क्षणादेव संत्रासात्पुनरन्तर्हितोऽभवत्।।।।
gṛhītukāmaṃ dṛṣṭvaivaṃ punar evābhyadhāvata | tatkṣaṇād eva saṃtrāsāt punar antarhito 'bhavat ||
Seeing that Rāma meant to seize him, the deer bolted once more; and in that very instant, out of fear, he vanished again from sight.
Seeing Rama's intention to catch him, the deer ran away once again out of fear and disappeared in a moment.
It underscores that adharma uses evasion and confusion; dharma must remain steady and truth-oriented even when the situation becomes unclear.
As Rāma moves to capture the deer, it flees and vanishes instantly, intensifying the chase and separating Rāma from the hermitage.
Rāma’s resolve in action is implied, though the verse mainly illustrates the opponent’s evasive deception.
