विराधवधः — The Slaying (Burial) of Viradha

तं प्रेक्ष्य रामः सुभृशमवध्यमचलोपमम्।भयेष्वभयदश्श्रीमानिदं वचनमब्रवीत्।।।।

taṃ prekṣya rāmaḥ subhṛśam avadhyam acalopamam |

bhayeṣv abhayadaḥ śrīmān idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||

Seeing him—mountain-like and seemingly unkillable even after being grievously wounded—illustrious Rāma, a giver of fearlessness amid dangers, spoke these words.

Seeing the mountain-like Viradha not dying though seriously wounded, illustrious Rama, guaranter of safety from fear said to Lakshmana:

R
Rāma
L
Lakṣmaṇa
V
Virādha

The dharmic duty of a protector is to remain steady in danger and give others fearlessness; Rāma embodies kṣatriya-dharma by responding to threat with composed leadership.

In the forest, Virādha appears as a formidable adversary; despite being badly wounded, he does not fall, prompting Rāma to speak to Lakṣmaṇa about the next course of action.

Fearless guardianship (abhaya-dāna): Rāma’s calm, protective resolve in a crisis.
