Shloka 3.36.19
मारीचप्रलोभनम् / Ravana Solicits Maricha’s Aid (Golden Deer Stratagem)
त्वां तु निस्संशयं सीता दृष्ट्वा तु मृगरूपिणम्।गृह्यतामिति भर्तारं लक्ष्मणं चाभिधास्यति।।।।
tvāṃ tu nissaṃśayaṃ sītā dṛṣṭvā tu mṛgarūpiṇam |
gṛhyatām iti bhartāraṃ lakṣmaṇaṃ cābhidhāsyati ||
Seeing you in the form of a deer, Sītā will surely tell her husband—and Lakṣmaṇa as well—“Catch it!”
Seeing you in the form of a deer, Sita will undoubtedly ask her husband and Lakshmana to capture you.
It shows how adharma works by exploiting innocent desire and trust. Dharma requires guarding one’s intentions and not being led into harmful outcomes by fascination or impulse.
Rāvaṇa predicts that Sītā, captivated by the deer, will urge Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa to capture it—thus creating separation.
Viveka (discernment) is implied as the needed virtue: the ability to distinguish reality from illusion, especially in morally risky situations.
