अकम्पनवृत्तान्तः — Akampana Reports Janasthana; Ravana Plans Sita’s Abduction

स सुरेन्द्रेण संयुक्तो रामस्सर्वामरैस्सह।उपयातो जनस्थानं ब्रूहि कच्चिदकम्पन।।3.31.13।।

sa surendreṇa saṃyukto rāmaḥ sarvāmaraḥ saha |

upayāto janasthānaṃ brūhi kaccid akampana ||

Tell me, Akampana—did Rama come to Janasthana united with Indra, together with all the gods?

Did Rama come to Janasthana with Indra and the gods ? O Akampana ! speak.

The verse implies that dharmic power can appear ‘divine’ to the unjust: when wrongdoing is challenged effectively, the oppressor imagines supernatural backing. Dharma, however, may operate through a single disciplined human agent.

Ravana questions whether Rama’s victory required the assistance of Indra and the gods, revealing shock at the scale of defeat.

Indirectly, Rama’s extraordinary capability; directly, Ravana’s pride and disbelief that a mere human could shatter his forces.
