Shloka 3.14.34

जटायुस्संवादः — Encounter with Jaṭāyu and the Genealogy of Beings (Aranyakanda 14)

जटायुषं तं प्रतिपूज्य राघवो मुदा परिष्वज्य च सन्नतोऽभवत्।पितुर्हि शुश्राव सखित्वमात्मवान् जटायुषा सङ्कथितं पुनः पुनः।।3.14.34।।

jaṭāyuṣaṁ taṁ pratipūjya rāghavo mudā pariṣvajya ca sannato 'bhavat |

pitur hi śuśrāva sakhitvam ātmavān jaṭāyuṣā saṅkathitaṁ punaḥ punaḥ ||3.14.34||

Rāghava honored Jaṭāyu in return; and, joyful, he embraced him and bowed with reverence. Self-possessed, he heard again and again from Jaṭāyu the account of his friendship with Rāma’s father.

Rama worshipped Jatayu and bending down, embraced him. He heard from him again and again several events relating to Jatayu's friendship with his father.

Dharma is gratitude and honoring elders/allies appropriately. Rāma responds to goodwill with reverence, showing that righteous leadership includes humility and respectful reciprocity.

After Jaṭāyu offers help and recalls past ties, Rāma honors and embraces him, and listens to repeated accounts of Jaṭāyu’s friendship with Daśaratha.

Rāma’s maryādā (propriety) and humility: he bows and embraces Jaṭāyu, embodying respectful conduct grounded in truth and gratitude.
