Shloka 3.11.62

पञ्चाप्सरो-सरः कथनम् तथा अगस्त्याश्रममार्गनिर्देशः (Panchapsara Lake Account and Directions to Agastya)

Then the great sage Agastya, entreated by the gods, came to the śrāddha; and when the same stratagem was tried, that mighty asura was indeed eaten.

Dharma is upheld when divine and human agencies cooperate to stop entrenched wrongdoing; the gods’ request and the sage’s response restore moral order.

Agastya attends a ritual occasion where the demons repeat their deceptive practice; the attempt fails, and Vātāpi is consumed.

Agastya’s fearlessness and discernment—he neither succumbs to deception nor abandons the dhārmic duty of protecting the innocent.
