Shloka 3.1.17

तापसाश्रममण्डलदर्शनम् (Entering Dandaka and Meeting the Sages)

पुष्पं मूलं फलं सर्वमाश्रमं च महात्मनः।निवेदयित्वा धर्मज्ञास्ते ततः प्राञ्जलयोऽब्रुवन्।।।।

puṣpaṃ mūlaṃ phalaṃ sarvam āśramaṃ ca mahātmanaḥ | nivedayitvā dharmajñās te tataḥ prāñjalayo 'bruvan ||

Having offered to the noble one flowers, roots, and fruits—all that the hermitage could provide—the sages, knowers of dharma, then spoke with folded hands.

The sages who were knowers of dharma saluted the noble Rama, offered fruits, roots and flowers available at the hermitage and with folded palms said thus:

R
Rāma (mahātmā implied)
H
Hermitage (āśrama)
F
Flowers, roots, fruits (puṣpa-mūla-phala)
S
Sages (dharmajñāḥ)

Offering what one has with humility: dharma is fulfilled through sincere hospitality and respectful speech, even with simple forest provisions.

The sages present available food and offerings from the āśrama and prepare to address Rāma formally.

The sages’ humility and generosity—service rendered without display, accompanied by reverent demeanor (folded hands).
