Thereafter is the excellent sacred ford called Bhogavatī, belonging to Vāsuki. Whoever performs the ritual bath (abhisheka) there attains the merit of an Aśvamedha sacrifice.

It identifies Bhogavatī as a named tīrtha associated with Vāsuki (a Nāga king), showing how the Padma Purāṇa maps holiness onto specific, often mythically-linked locations.
By elevating a simple act at a tīrtha—devotional bathing/abhisheka—to the status of a grand Vedic sacrifice, it underscores accessible, faith-centered religious practice over costly ritual complexity.
The verse promotes humility and sincerity: great spiritual merit is presented as attainable through reverent conduct at sacred places, encouraging disciplined devotion rather than pride in elaborate rites.
