Unspecified (narrative voice within Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa; speaker not identifiable from the single verse alone)

Concept: Diversity of beings arises from the creator’s guṇa-conditioned manifestation; sattva and non-sattva dispositions appear as effects of rajas-tamas interplay.

Application: Observe one’s own guṇa-patterns (restlessness, inertia, clarity) and cultivate sattva through sāttvika food, truthful speech, japa, and service—without hatred toward others’ constitutions.

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A vast cosmic womb of swirling guṇas—crimson rajas and smoky indigo tamas—spirals around a luminous axis of sattva like a pale-gold lotus filament. From this vortex, diverse beings emerge in tiers: serene sages in white, restless warriors in red, and shadowed forms in deep blue, all flowing outward from an unseen divine source.","primary_figures":["Hiraṇyagarbha/Brahmā (symbolic)","Nārāyaṇa (implied source)","newly manifested beings of varied guṇas"],"setting":"Primordial creation-space with a lotus motif and concentric cosmic layers, no terrestrial landmarks.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["lotus pink","pale gold","crimson vermilion","smoky indigo","pearl white"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: cosmic creation tableau with a central radiant lotus-axis, subtle depiction of Nārāyaṇa as the hidden source behind a golden aura, Brahmā suggested within a lotus, guṇa-streams in red and deep blue curling outward, gold leaf embellishment on halos and lotus petals, rich reds/greens, gem-studded ornaments on symbolic deities, traditional South Indian iconographic symmetry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: lyrical cosmic landscape with delicate brushwork, soft gradients of rajas-red and tamas-indigo, a pale-gold lotus thread at center, tiny finely rendered beings emerging in orderly bands, refined faces and calm expressions for sāttvika figures, airy negative space like Himalayan sky, cool restrained palette with gentle highlights.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold black outlines and flat natural pigments, central lotus motif with radiant yellow-gold, rajas as strong red fields and tamas as deep blue-black swathes, stylized figures emerging in registers, characteristic large eyes, temple-wall aesthetic with ornamental borders of lotuses and vines.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: lotus-dense cosmic pichwai with concentric floral borders, deep blue ground, gold and pink lotuses, symbolic emergence of beings from a central lotus, peacocks and floral arabesques framing the guṇa-streams, intricate Nathdwara-style ornamentation with shimmering gold accents."}

FAQs

It explains that creation is associated with the guṇas (rajas and tamas) and that beings manifest with differing temperaments—some sāttvika and others of mixed or non-sāttvika nature.

Primarily psychological/cosmic qualities: sattva, rajas, and tamas are guṇas that shape dispositions and modes of existence; ethical outcomes are implied through how these qualities influence behavior.

Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa commonly frames cosmology through guṇa-based causation, describing how the universe and varieties of beings arise via different qualities of prakṛti.
