The Manifestation of Viṣṇu’s Footprints: Vāmana–Trivikrama, Bāṣkali’s Subjugation, and the Rise of Viṣṇupadī

Gaṅgā

Aditi too, bearing a womb heavy with radiance, moved on—her hips bent low under the weight, yet her slow gait was graceful. She carried the weariness of a languid face and a pallor of strain, as she bore within her a deeply settled, exceedingly weighty pregnancy.

FAQs

Aditi is a primordial mother-goddess figure associated with the Ādityas; in creation narratives she functions as a cosmic mother. This verse emphasizes her role as a bearer of a powerful, luminous pregnancy, underscoring generative cosmic potency.

The verse focuses on embodied maternity: the physical heaviness, slow movement, pallor, and fatigue of pregnancy, while still portraying Aditi’s gait as graceful—linking cosmic creation to tangible human experience.

It invites reverence for creative labor and endurance: even divine creation is depicted as involving weight, strain, and perseverance, encouraging respect for the burdens borne in bringing forth life and welfare.
