स्थिरा भूसहिता गोत्रा सदाहोऽग्निरसः स्थिरा । नभश्च मरुता युक्तं रसवर्णसमन्वितम् ॥ ५४ ॥
sthirā bhūsahitā gotrā sadāho'gnirasaḥ sthirā | nabhaśca marutā yuktaṃ rasavarṇasamanvitam || 54 ||
Earth is steady and compact, bearing the gotra (supporting lineages or strata). Fire ever burns, with taste as its defining essence. Ether too, when joined with wind, is endowed with taste and color.

It frames the world as an ordered system where each element has a fixed ‘dharma’ (intrinsic property). Recognizing these inherent qualities supports Vedic discernment (viveka) and correct application of śāstric knowledge.
Indirectly, it supports bhakti by clarifying the created order (bhūta-sṛṣṭi) as governed by law-like qualities; devotion matures when one sees the cosmos as structured and sustained under divine ordinance rather than random.
