The Exposition of the Krishna Mantra (Kṛṣṇa-mantra-prakāśa): Nyāsa, Dhyāna, Worship, Yantra, and Prayoga
स्याद्गायत्री वामदेवपुष्पबाणौ तु ङेंतिमौ । विद्महेधीमहियुतौ तन्नोऽनंगः प्रचोदयात् ॥ १९३ ॥
syādgāyatrī vāmadevapuṣpabāṇau tu ṅeṃtimau | vidmahedhīmahiyutau tanno'naṃgaḥ pracodayāt || 193 ||
This is to be a Gāyatrī mantra: for Vāmadeva and Puṣpabāṇa—these two are to be applied here. With the Gāyatrī components “vidmahe” and “dhīmahi”, may Ananga (Kāma) impel and illumine our understanding.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada the technical construction/application of Gāyatrī-style mantras)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents a technical, Vedāṅga-oriented application of the Gāyatrī template—showing how specific deity-names (Vāmadeva, Puṣpabāṇa/Ananga) are fitted into the standard ‘vidmahe–dhīmahi–pracodayāt’ structure to direct the mind toward a chosen devatā.
Bhakti here is expressed through precise mantra-upāsanā: devotion becomes focused contemplation (dhīmahi) supported by correct mantra-form, so that the invoked deity (Ananga/Kāma in this case) is asked to ‘impel’ the devotee’s inner faculty (naḥ).
It highlights Chandas and mantra-prayoga: identifying a mantra as ‘Gāyatrī’ in form and indicating how the canonical parts ‘vidmahe’ and ‘dhīmahi’ are used with specific devatā-nāmas for ritual/meditative application.
