After loosening (removing) what had been tied/placed with a cord, one should then present water (as an offering). In this manner did the venerable sage Gautama have it performed.
Narada (narrating traditional procedure; attributing it to Sage Gautama)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It emphasizes ritual correctness and inner reverence: the act is done in a precise sequence—first releasing what is bound, then offering water—showing that Dharma is upheld through disciplined, mindful procedure as taught by revered sages like Gautama.
Though procedural, it supports Bhakti by teaching careful, respectful offering (toya-pradāna). Devotion in Purāṇic practice is expressed through properly performed acts of worship and service, not merely emotion.
It reflects prayoga (applied ritual method) and the importance of correct sequencing in karmakāṇḍa practice—an applied, technical dimension associated with Vedanga-oriented instruction in Book 1.3.
