Mantra-Māhātmya and Sādhana of Kārtavīryārjuna
Nyāsa, Yantra, Homa, and Dīpa-Vrata
तिथौ रिक्ताविहीनायां वारे शनिकुजौ विना । हस्तोत्तराश्विरौद्रेयपुष्यवैष्णववायुभे ॥ ६३ ॥
tithau riktāvihīnāyāṃ vāre śanikujau vinā | hastottarāśviraudreyapuṣyavaiṣṇavavāyubhe || 63 ||
One should choose a tithi (lunar day) that is not ‘Riktā’ (void and inauspicious). Likewise, one should choose a weekday excluding Saturday and Tuesday; and one should prefer the nakṣatras Hasta, Uttarāśvinī, Raudra, Puṣya, Vaiṣṇava, and Vāyu-bha.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches that dharmic rites and vratas should be performed with proper muhurta—avoiding void tithis and harsh weekdays—so the intended spiritual fruit is not obstructed.
It supports bhakti indirectly by prescribing auspicious timing for Vishnu-oriented worship and vows, emphasizing orderly, scripture-aligned practice as an aid to devotion.
Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa: choosing tithi (lunar day), vāra (weekday), and nakṣatra (lunar mansion) for ritual success, including the avoidance of Riktā tithis and certain weekdays.
