Salutations to You—the sun that dispels the darkness of all ignorance; the very wealth of consciousness; the fully independent Lord; He whose form is assumed out of compassion; whose very essence is auspiciousness (Śiva).
Narada (in a verse of praise within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It presents the Lord as the inner illuminator who destroys the darkness of ignorance and as pure consciousness itself, emphasizing liberation through divine grace and true knowledge.
Bhakti is expressed here as reverential surrender: the devotee praises the Lord’s independence and compassion, acknowledging that God assumes an accessible form (vigraha) to uplift beings.
The verse reflects mantric-stotra usage—precise epithets and compounds typical of Vedic-style praise—supporting disciplined recitation (chandas/śikṣā-informed chanting) even though no specific ritual rule is stated.
