The Greatness of Viṣṇu
Viṣṇor Māhātmya
अज्ञो लोको वृथा गर्वं करिष्यति महोद्धतः । कायः सन्निहितापायो धनादीनां किमुच्यते ॥ ५० ॥
ajño loko vṛthā garvaṃ kariṣyati mahoddhataḥ | kāyaḥ sannihitāpāyo dhanādīnāṃ kimucyate || 50 ||
The ignorant world, swollen with arrogance, indulges in pride in vain. When the body itself is ever on the verge of perishing, what need is there to speak of wealth and the rest?
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada on vairagya and right knowledge)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa
It teaches vairagya: pride is meaningless because the body is already moving toward dissolution; recognizing impermanence loosens attachment to wealth and status and turns the mind toward liberation.
Bhakti matures through humility; by seeing the body and possessions as transient, one drops ego-based identity and becomes fit for steady remembrance and surrender to Vishnu.
No specific Vedanga technique is taught in this verse; it supports the ethical-spiritual discipline that underlies Vedic study—self-control, humility, and discernment (viveka) before applying ritual or technical sciences.
