Bhṛgu said: Those wise ones who are devoted to the practice of their own prescribed duty (svadharma) attain the fruit of heaven; but one who acts otherwise becomes deluded.

Secondary Rasa: vira
It teaches that steadfastness in svadharma (one’s rightful duty) produces orderly spiritual progress and favorable results, while abandoning it leads to confusion and misdirection.
Though it speaks in the language of karma and svadharma, it supports bhakti by insisting on disciplined, truthful living—svadharma becomes the ethical foundation that stabilizes devotion and worship.
The verse implies dharma-śāstra-based discernment (proper duty by varṇa/āśrama and circumstance); while no single Vedāṅga is named, correct application depends on understanding injunctions (vidhi) and prohibitions (niṣedha) used in Vedic ritual and conduct.
